At the risk of being overly simplistic, let me just say this: that when Christ told the woman to "go and sin no more", or wherever the New Testament exhorts believers to live a life of love and good works, it has nothing to do with getting or staying forgiven but simply has to do with what is right, reasonable and befitting. Thank you for the wonderful article. I have just one question. Considering the many places that Jesus Himself required change of behavior in those He showed mercy, why is our personal improvement important?

For example, to the woman caught in adultery Jesus said, "sin no more." He only said 2 things to her, one of which was essentially rid yourself of this behavior. Why?
