A Reprobate Mind

Preached Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Fredericton Farmer's Market. No box, no music... this message caused the most people to stop and listen than I have ever seen yet. It seemed the entire section of the market was attentively listening to God's Word being proclaimed. "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient." (Romans 1:28)

Reprobate: [adj] marked by immorality; deviating from what is considered right or proper or good; "depraved criminals"; "a perverted sense of loyalty"; [syn: depraved, immoral, perverse, perverted] n : a person without moral scruples [syn: miscreant] v 1: reject as invalid 2: abandon to eternal damnation

I believe we are living in the last days of the earth, when men and women are turning away from sound doctrine, sounds thinking, becoming unreasonable and exchanging the truth of God for a lie. The evidence of this is found in both believers and non-believers alike. "The fool has said in his heart there is no God" and "many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." It is absolutely imperative that we walk before the Lord in holy reverence and righteousness, holding fast to the knowledge of God which He has made clear from the beginnning. Hear the vital words of Jesus: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17) I just can't stress this enough.

Had an encounter with the police on this occasion, received a warning that I could be fined $25o dollars for causing a disturbance. Please pray that the door of the gospel be not hindered, and for wisdom on how I shall proceed. "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) Download below:

Amen brother Eli, praise God as I hear that he is doing such a work on your heart. It is clear to hear in your burdened, compassioned heart. I pray for your outreach in Fredericton, that God would save souls in your city.

Thanks for being bold for Jesus Christ.

I just found out there was a story about it in the CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/nb/story/nb-marketsecurity20060530.html

It says "prompted them to arrest"... first, nothing of that sort happened. Secondly, I was not even on a soapbox as they suggested. The police warned me of a fine for causing a disturbance.

I have no idea about the other guy who was "arrested."

"McGeorge says market staff sent a letter to the City of Fredericton asking for increased police presence around the market as thousands of people pass through every Saturday morning."

Brothers and sisters, you see how excellent a location this is? Thousands of people pass through their weekly. However, please pray because I believe the police will be getting involved from here on end.

Blessings.
In Christ Jesus,
-Eli

Brother Eli, "whether they hear or refuse to hear". Praise God for your faithfulness preaching the Word of God. We know in the world's eyes the preaching of the Cross is foolishness, but it is because they are perishing that the Word of God is of utmost necessity.

Hi Eli: What you've shared is true. Men are turning away from the truth, both non-Christians and Christians who are believing vain philosophies more than the Word of God. There will be those who LOVE TRUTH, who love Jesus, and will not compromise the truth of God's Word one jot or tittle. Bless you Eli as you declare the gospel letting the light of the gospel shine before those who are walking in darkness.. Love in Christ, Tim & Margie Rapley
